Downtown Connector
The Downtown Connector Trail is Under Construction!
The City of Albany is now building the Downtown Connector Trail. The Downtown Connector Trail is just what its name implies. This trail will connect the 13.62 mile Albany-Sasser Rail Trail to downtown Albany and all of the other trails that are part of the Flint River Trails System along the Flint River waterfront. This trail will connect to the “rail-trail” at Monroe St. From there the trail will wind through Tift Park , pass through the Phoebe Putney Hospital campus, and then turn down historic Jackson St towards downtown. Once in the downtown area, the trail will intersect with the Thronateeska Heritage Center , the Wetherbee Planetarium, and the River front Trail spur to the Flint Riverquarium . The Downtown Connector Trail will then proceed into the heart of the City of Albany where the new Pretoria Fields Collective brewery is located along with all of the popular attractions located along the Flint River Waterfront. New downtown restaurants and attractions are being built or in the planning stages.
