Chris Smith

Dr. Chris Smith is an original board member of South Georgia Rails To Trails. Born in Tifton, Georgia and a lifelong cyclist, he has always believed that “exercise is medicine”. 150 minutes of exercise a week gives a 50% reduction in heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, depression and cancer. The South Georgia Rails To Trails project would offer an excellent venue for all types of exercise. In practice in Albany since 1983, Dr. Smith has seen the importance of regular exercise in prevention and even in treatment of human diseases. A trail that would include from Albany to Sasser, connecting from the Riverwalk to Chehaw Park to Radium Springs and the downtown system would bring walkers, skaters, runners and cyclists from all over to enjoy the beauty of Southwest Georgia.
