Jeff Hoopes

Jeff Hoopes moved to Albany in 1982 to start a cardiology practice and the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. He was active in hospital committees which included the Medical Director of the Catheterization Laboratory, the CCU, and Chest Pain Center. Outside of the hospital, he was active with the Dougherty County Chapters of the American Heart Association and Mended Hearts.
He retired in 2013 and has been active gardening and has returned to a childhood passion for beekeeping.
His career in medicine taught him the value of exercise in both treating and preventing heart disease. This knowledge further motivated him to stay active in recreational activities available in Southwest Georgia including walking in his neighborhood, bicycling the Flint River Trail, and canoeing on the many creeks. He is excited about the expansion of the Flint River Trail System which will provide exercise, socialization, and commerce to our community.
