Welcome to South Georgia Rails to Trails, Inc.

South Georgia Rails to Trails, Inc. (SGRT) was incorporated in 1998 for the purpose of preserving an abandoned rail corridor between the Albany and Sasser, Georgia. With the assistance of the Rails to Trails Conservancy, SGRT immediately began to move towards the ultimate goal of providing our community with a hard surface recreational biking, hiking and walking trail for the benefit of everyone in South Georgia and beyond!

It has been a long and difficult journey. But, today we are at long last very close to achieving the goal we set over twenty long years ago. Thanks to our partners with the City of Albany, Dougherty County and the Friends of the Flint River Trails, we will soon see the Albany-Sasser Rail Trail become a reality.

Welcome to our new website where we invite you to join us as we keep you abreast of all of the exciting news and developments that will be taking place as our new “rail-trail” moves closer to becoming a reality. Here you will be able to see news related to YOUR new trail. In addition, you will learn how you can get involved in trail events. And, soon we will show you how you and your family can help SGRT to preserve, protect and maintain this valuable community amenity.

Again… WELCOME!
